Here at Sallins Gaa we try to help and support the local groups and Charity's within the community. With the game St.Stephens Morning we raised just over €700 and a cheque was presented to Harry Pender on behalf of Sallins Tidy Towns the other night at training from Chairman Kevin Dillon. The Tidy Towns do great work around the village every year, and this is just something we do to help...great to see Harry in good heath again..great clubman..#oneclub-yourclub

Interview with new senior manager Peter Behan

posted 5 Feb 2014, 13:54 by Sallins GAA Club

One man who has already guided Sallins GAA to Intermediate Championship victory in 2003 as manager is Peter Behan, but now, 11 years on, Peter is back in town, hungry for more success! I got the chance to speak to the new man in charge after a training session and here is what he had to say!

"Good turn out tonight, but there always is at the start of the year! Tonight was certainly about getting to know the players and having a look at certain individuals in different positions during the practice game at the end! I know some of the 'older' players from the last time I was here but hopefully now we'll get a couple of challenge matches and see where we are fitness-wise!

Peter mentioned some of the more experienced players and how he knew them from his last time in charge, but he was also very impressed from what he seen of the younger players coming through!

"You'll go nowhere without young players, you need them there for the speed and the legs around the field but also to add extra competition within the squad! There was a few nice young footballers here tonight and I've been more than impressed with them!"

Peter of course led Sallins to the Intermediate Championship Final in 2003 where they overcame Suncroft in St Conleth's Park on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-10, to clinch what is one of the clubs biggest achievements to date, but a rather humble Behan stated that he's hungry for more!

"We'd be hoping we'll give the Intermediate a good knock again! I'd say if everybody puts the effort in and works together and all pull the one way, I defintely think we could give it a bash! We have a great determined bunch of players and that will stand to us!"
