An injury time point by Craig Hughes earned Sallins a draw after a terrific late comeback in the Kildare JHL A Semi-Final at Clane on Friday 1st July.  Sallins started the game well with the half back line, midfielders Eoin Ennis & Michael Minchen & wing forward Martin Egan winning a lot of good possession. However a no. of missed chances by Sallins & the dominance of Clane’s full back line meant that all this possession wasn’t converted into scores. As the first have progressed Clane began to dominate & led 1-7 to 1-2 at half time. Sallins first have goal was a long range effort by Bryan Coen.  Within a minute of the restart, Coen added a second goal but Sallins failed to build on this & Clane added a further 4 points as well as missing a no. of easy opportunities. With 5 minutes remaining Clane led by 6 points 1-11 to 2-2 & seemed to be cruising to victory. With time running out Sallins knew they needed a goal & quick thinking by Eoin Ennis say him pick out Martin Egan with a quick free & Egan blasted home a goal from 35 metres. The goal sparked Sallins to life & points by Pat Smyth & Micheal Farrington reduced the arrears to a single point. Then with the game in injury time, a long range free from Michael Minchen broke loose in the Clane goalmouth & Craig Hughes was quickest to react & stuck a fine point from a narrow angle to earn Sallins a replay.
