Competition: U13 Boys League Division 3 Final

Venue: Hawkfield

Result: Sallins 5-9 Carbury 0-3

The U13 Boys Footballers put in a great display to win the Division 3 League Final against Carbury on Saturday morning in Hawkfield. Sallins started strongly with an early point from Conor Egan followed quickly by another from Colm Dalton. Sallins took control after 15 minutes with a well taken goal by full forward Conor Keane. However, Carbury dominated the next 10 minutes scoring 3 consecutive points and putting the Sallins full back line of Lorcan O'Reilly, Craig Breen and Ryan Locke under serious pressure. Dan Rogers tried his best from corner forward to get Sallins going again. Eventually a strong kick out from goalkeeper Dylan Campbell was worked up the field by wing back Adam Donnelly and Bobby Brennan to find Stephen Kelly for a revealing point by Stephen Kelly. John Prendiville was able to win the Carbury kick out and feed corner forward Jack Kelly for another quick point with the last kick of the fist half.

Halftime Score: Sallins 1-4 Carbury 0-3

Second half substitutes Dylan O'Sullivan at corner back and Ryan McCarthy at corner forward brought the fresh legs that Sallins needed and a goal in first minute from Jack Kelly steadied the nerves. A Colm Dalton point and a goal from Conor Keane, after the Carbury goalkeeper spilled an high ball, put Sallins in control. Ciaran Mangan was able to dominate from midfield and fed Tristan O'Connor who stormed up the field from centre back to score a great individual goal. Straight from the kick out Colm Dalton caught a great high ball and powered the ball into the top corner for another Sallins goal and the game was as good as won after 7 minutes of the second half. Conor Farrell came on at corner forward and was able to link play for a well taken point by wing back Ruairi Hand. At this stage Sallins were in cruise control and finished the game out with a further 2 points from Captain on the day Stephen Kelly and 1 from Colm Dalton. A great display from all these young lads and a brilliant way to end a long but enjoyable year. A special thank you to all the parents for their fantastic support and on to Feile next year! Sallins Abu! Mentors Graeme Locke, John Rogers and Eric Farrell.
